First impressions after trying the trial version

Hi,

Today I finally tried this software and I have a few questions and observations.

1. At the installation process there is a console window opening when the process starts EDIT_AutoGen_default.exe. I got an error: "Could not find directory D:\Prepar3D v3Autogen Class High Power not added" (D:\Prepar3D v3 is the folder of my sim)
I had to manually close the window to continue the install process.

2. There is UNLICENSED written all over the terrain. Is it because I'm using a trial version or because the downloaded satellite images are unlicensed?

3. The terrain looks also a bit pale or hazy. Also because of trial version limitations?

4. The water areas look strange. Some lakes look partly black.  Also, when I got closer to the surface, it seems that under the animated water there is an ugly pixelated water texture, probably from the satellite image. I don't think that extra layer is needed there...

5. Autogen loading time is incredibly long. Even after the WT console shows green light for Autogen, very few autogen were loaded after 10-15 min. And the autogen that finally loaded, appears in patches, whole square areas of forest were missing.

6. I tried two different countries and while it seems in Sweden there is autogen, in Hungary there aren't any, the autogen light is off. Is it also because of the trial version?

7. In the scenery library there is a World Terrain Priority layer on top of my list, which is unchecked. I tried to check it, but then I got the message: "2 errors were detected and these areas were not loaded." And when I say load them anyway I get: "A non sequential layer ordering detected within the scenery list...."

1 Will be corrected but it only affects electrical poles Autogen objects
2 It is only a limitation on the trial version
3 Imagery quality is indeed variable
4 Ok should be corrected in next version
5 Autogen should not take more than a few seconds to load - the led is yellow during loading
6 Autogen is based on Open Street Map data and as users benevolently contribute the data gets richer and World Terrain gets better so it will improve
7 World Terrain Priority is just a place holder so you can decide which scenery goes above or below World Terrain and should not be clicked

Thanks for the answers, I'll keep testing and will report if I find any more bugs.

After some more tests I can actually only repeat myself, so no other issues found (yet).
Main reasons I find serious at the moment:
1. Hazy textures. They are in contrast with some of my photosceneries with sharp textures. And it seems that it's global, anywhere I tried I got this hazyness. Do the images come this way from the servers? Can it be enhanced with some filter or shader or something? I'm not talking about detail or resolution, but coloration. As if a foggy layer were put on top of it. Google's satellite images look better, but I guess those can't be used for copyright reasons.

2. Autogen loads very sporadically. As if some were just randomly dropped on the terrain, and some were missed out completely. I see partly missing forests and cities.

If these two issues were gone I would always use WT, but until then it does not look that good.
But I have high hopes for this, so keep up the good work guys!

Update:
Oh, one more thing I noticed. Even though my custom photoscenery is on top of WT, where water should be, the WT textures are seen. So seemingly WT has wrong waterclass definitions, or do not have it where it should be. I think this same problem causes also the "partly black lakes" syndrome.
I don't know how difficult is to fix this globally, but maybe the process of water detection (and thus the exclusion of textures at those places) can be automated.

I thought about leaving an update here since many fixes happened since the version I tried when I left the above review.
With the new 4.02 version I think all of the bugs were fixed I found previously:
The textures are now sharp, loading time is much shorter and finally the water tile issues are also fixed.

Happy with World Terrain so far!
